ABOUT US

A team comprised of ten Civil Engineering students, from Cal Poly Pomona, developed and designed a modified intersection of State Route 41 and Road 416 in Fresno County, California. This project drew from past accident history on the intersection in Coarsegold, California. With the data and resources given by our advisor, the students then developed engineering solutions to design and modify an intersection that is safe for drivers and their passengers. The design includes a road widening and a left-turn merging lane. The team of students conducted their own research and procedures into erosion control, hydrology analysis, vegetation design, earthwork, signing and striping, and cost analysis. This project is very important for travelers in the area and is an engineering solution that helps combat accidents in the future.
